China

A Chinese visitor gets a feel of the blast wall at China's first nuclear weapons base, which has been declassified and opened to tourists in Haiyan, China's Qinghai province on May 12. The base was the birthplace of the country's atomic bombs, built in 1958, comprised eight large underground rooms built with reinforced concrete, stretching over 1,100 square kilometres (425 square miles), and was shut in 1987 until its resurrection as a tourist venue.
